Kofta Curry is a delicious dish that is a specialty of Northern India. Coconut Kofta Curry, commonly known as Nariyal ke kofte in Hindi is a very delicious and appetizing dish which is a speciality delicacy from North Indian cuisine. The coconut balls are fried/ baked or pan fried before adding into the yummy gravy. The fried coconut koftas can also be served as an appetizer or starter for parties. The taste of the coconut kofta curry is exceptionally unique from other kofta gravies.
The sweetness from the coconut, tanginess from tomato and spices together blends well and delights your taste buds. This makes the dish truly divine to taste, exceptionally flavorful and alluring to eat. Coconut is a wonder and natual food from the state of Kerala. It is considered as a sacred fruit and holds a very high place in all religious ceremonies. Apart from this, coconut is extensively used in most dishes in southern India and is the considered the perfect diet as it contains all essential nutrients needed by human body.
Ingredients:
Coconut is an integral part of the Kerala culture. They also feature in the local cuisine of the state with their mouth-watering delicacies prepared using coconuts. Many of the recipes are prepared in coconut oil. Some use the milk of the fruit and others use the flesh of the fruit. Coconut in Kerala is used in various forms. Some of the well-known dishes are coconut chutney or freshly ground coconut is added to a variety of veg and non-vegetarian dishes.
Exotic seafood delicacies like fish moilee, coconut crusted jumbo prawns etc are prepared either in coconut milk or added with grated coconut meat. Coconut meat is a super food and is labeled as the king of foods in some parts of the world because it provides optimal nutrition, promotes, sustains and restores health. Coconut meat from mature coconuts is white, much harder and has a slightly sweet and nutty taste. As the coconut matures, the meat’s fibre and oil increase as well.
This level of fibre and oil give the mature meat a healthy probiotic quality that is beneficial for the digestive system. It helps to feed the good bacteria in the intestines and is a powerful germ fighter. Coconut meat is high in fiber, rich in proteins. Coconut meat contains lauric acid, which helps fight bacteria from intestinal parasites and wards off countless infections ranging from HIV to the common cold. Do try this recipe and acquire authentic taste of coconut cooked with an amazing twist in taste.
