Ingredients used in Fish Kedgeree
• Coriander chopped - 1 tablespoon.
• Fish (bone less) - 150 grams.
• Salt - to taste.
• Moong dal - 1 tablespoon.
• Curry powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Green peas - 1/4 cup.
• Bay leaves - 3 numbers.
• Butter - 1 tablespoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Chicken stock - 2 cup.
• Basmathi rice - 1 cup.
• Spring onions chopped - 1 tablespoon.
• Boiled eggs - 2 numbers.
Method:
  • Moong dal and basmati rice soak separately for 30 minutes.
  • Heat a pan add cumin seeds, bay leaves, butter, green peas, curry powder, moong daal, basmati rice, salt, mix this and add chicken stock, put the lid on and let it cook till the rice is done.
  • In this add any type of fish (bone less) put the lid on and let it cook for few minutes in a slow flame, then sprinkle chopped coriander, spring onions, mix this well, put the lid on for 3 minutes.

Serve this with boiled eggs.

hi maria...greetings from india....i think the word ur looking for is "moong dal" not "mum dal" ....moong dal is split green sprout lentils..moonng means sprouts and daal means lentils....hope u find ur ingredients....happy cookin

having fish for breakfast is not an English thing to do anymore - I think it started to die out in the 60s - maybe a few people still do it but not me - great for the midday meal or evening though.
