Ingredients used in Chicken Shorva
• Ginger & garlic paste - 1 tablespoon.
• Onion (chopped) - 1 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Whole garam masala (each) - 2 numbers.
• Oil - 1 tablespoon.
• Water - as required.
• Red chill powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Coriander powder - 1-1/2 tablespoon.
• Coconut powder - 2 tablespoons.
• Curd - 1 cup.
• Chicken - 750 grams.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Garam masala powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1/2 cup.
• Black cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Bay leaf - 2 numbers.
Method:
Take a bowl add curd, coconut powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, water and mix well and make a paste keep it aside. Now take a pan add oil, whole garammasala, black cumin seeds, bay leaf, onions, salt fry till golden brown color, then add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chicken, mix well cook till it changes the color. Now add curd masala mixture and then add enough water and cook for 30 minutes till chicken is tender, on a slow flame. Once the chicken is cooked add garam masala powder and coriander leaves then switch off the flame. *Serve with Naan.*

This looks similar to the watery red curry my friend's Indian maid cooks when visit India, and I love it. I don't remember the name of it, but I hope this shorva taste similar or better when I attempt this recipe.

Could i substitue the freshly blended coconut by using packaged dissicated coconut? Because I don't know how to crack a coconut, let alone blend one.
