Ingredients used in BANGALORE BRINJAL DAL
• Bangalore brinjal - 1 number.
• Oil - 2 tablespoons.
• Mustard seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Garlic(crushed) - 5 numbers.
• Green chilies - 3 numbers.
• Onions (chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
• Curry leaves - 1 spring.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Toor dal(boiled) - 1 cup.
• Water - 1-2 cup.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • Slight peel skin of Bangalore brinjal, remove seeds and cut into big pieces.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, garlic, green chilies and saute it.
  • Add onions, curry leaves, turmeric powder, a little salt and saute it.
  • Add big pieces of Bangalore brinjal and saute it,then place the lid and cook it.
  • Add boiled toor dal, water, boil it once and at last add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

Now Bangalore brinjal dal is ready to serve.

Hi Ragini ji, as you know that green vegetable is called as CHOCO based in Australia unsure of the availability in USA, but for sure it isn't called as Bangalore Brinjal. Just wanted to share this info so that people might not be mislead. Thank y
