Ingredients used in Fish Masala with poppy seeds
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
• Lime juice - 1 number.
• Turermic powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Red chili powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon.
• Oil - 2 tablespoons.
• Onion (chopped) - 1 cup.
• Coconut powder - 1/2 cup.
• Black cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Pepper corns - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Whole garam masala(each) - 3 number.
• Sesame seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Poppy seeds - 3 tablespoons.
• Fish - 1 kg.
• Curry leaves (chopped) - 1 spring.
Method:
  • Take a pan dry roast poppy seeds, sesame seeds, wholegaram masala, peppercorns roast and add this to blender in this add coconut powder make a paste.
  • In another pan add oil, onions cook until golden brown, then add to the poppy mixture blend it again and keep it aside.
  • Now in a bowl add fish pieces, ginger garlic paste, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder, lime juice, add the blended paste mix well and keep it aside for 30minutes.
  • After 30 minutes take a non-stick pan add the marinated fish in one layer and cook in a very slow flame once it is cooked one side, turn to other side cooks till golden brown color then add curry leaves, coriander leaves chopped.
  • Finish it off with lime juice.

You could try sesame seeds instead. They've got similar texture, shape, and size.

Either leave those out but obvsioly in this recipie poppy seed is kinda the main ingridient but your best shot is to, use sesameseed, or celery seed. In case if you want to use celery seed, use less than the amount recipe asks for, because they have
