Paneer is fresh cottage cheese extensively used in Indian cuisine especially in north India. It is a homemade Indian cheese that is used in making different desserts, appetizers and main course dishes. Paneer is very versatile, soft and blends well with creamy sauces. It is usually served as an appetizer or accompaniment to a main course. It is moist and has soft crumbly texture. It is a rich source of milk protein often used in making awesome delicacies such as Sandesh, Rasgulla, Mattar paneer etc. Paneer is slightly chewy consistency and mild flavour. It hold its shape well and doesn’t melt, hence you can sauté it, grill or crumble/ grate and just do about anything to add in your dishes. Paneer also happens to be one of the easiest cheeses to make at home, requiring nothing more than milk and lemon juice.

Paneer is one of the rich source of proteins for most vegetarians and are added to classic Indian dishes like kormas, curries etc. Kids love eating cheese especially from macaroni and cheese or cheeseburgers or cheese pizzas to just eating string cheese as a snack. Cheese is an amazing food derived from milk produced with wide range of flavours, textures and forms by coagulation of the milk protein casein.

It comprises mainly of proteins and fat from milk usually the milk of cow, buffalo, goat or sheep. Nowadays you find Cheese everywhere, right from our breakfast dishes added into a variety from sandwiches to pasta and salads. It is also served as a classic topping for crackers and it is also difficult to imagine a pizza without the warm, gooey cheesy sprinkled over the pizza. Cheese is actually made with milk and would be a very good substitute for kids who hate drinking milk. Apart from their goodness in flavour and taste, cheese is also a good source of calcium, protein, vitamin D and potassium. Do try this healthy and yummy paua paneer as they are light and awesome cheesy snacks that are fun to eat.
