Recipe of Wheat appam

Ingredient Name Quantity Unit
Hot Water about 1-1 and 1/2 Cup
Banana 1 Large
Jaggery 1 and 1/2 Cup
Rice Flour 3/4 Cup
Wheat Flour 1 Cup
Oil to fry
Coconut Scrapped 1 Tablespoons


Mash one large banana and keep aside. Add wheat flour and rice flour and mix well. To this add jaggery and the mashed banana and coconut. Now start adding water little by little till you get a batter. The consistancy should be thicker than dosa batter. Leave it aside for an hour. Now heat oil and dispense the batter using a spoon. allow it to turn a nice brown colour before removing from oil. Removing early make cause the insides to remain uncooked

Recipe Tips

If you like the appams really crip you can add a pinch of baking soda.. but this may cause the appams to absorb more oil.
