Ingredients used in VALATHANDU KOOTU- BANANA STEM KOOTU
• Valathandu(banana stem) - 1 numbers.
• Soaked bengal gram - 1/4 cup.
• Onions - 2 numbers.
• Tomatoes - 2 numbers.
• Coconut - 1 numbers.
• Red chilli powder - 2 teaspoons.
• Salt - 0 to.
• Cloves - 3 numbers.
• Cinnamon - 2 numbers.
• Fennel seeds - 2 pinch.
• Oil - 100 grams.
• Coriander leaves - 1 bunch.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 teaspoons.
• Turmeric powder - 1 pinch.
Method:
1. Place a pressure cooker on stove add chopped valathandu, soaked bengal gram, onions, tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste and cook it, till 5 whistles. 2. Heat oil in a pan and add cloves, cinnamon, fennel seeds and onion slices, then saute it. 3. Now transfer the cooked ingredients from cooker to pan and add salt, mix it well. 4. When it cooks add grated coconut and before removing from flame add coriander leaves. 5. Now the dish is ready and best eaten with rice.
