Ingredients used in Sago Idli
• Sago - 1/2 cup.
• Idli rava - 1 cup.
• Buttermilk - 1 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Ghee - 1-2 teaspoons.
• Mustard seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Chana dal - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Urad dal - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Cashew nut pieces - 1 tea spoon.
• Ginger (chopped) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Green chillies (chopped) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Curry leaves - 1 springs.
• Coconut (grated) - 1 tea spoon.
• Water - 1/2 cup.
• Cooking soda - 1/4 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Take a bowl, add sago, idli rava, butter milk, little salt mix and soak it for 1-2 hours.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chana dal, urad dal, cashew nut pieces, ginger, green chillies, curry leaves and saute it.
  • Add fresh grated coconut and switch off the flame and add this tempering into soaked batter along with little water, cooking soda and mix it nicely.
  • Allow the mixture to rest for 1 hour, and arrange this batter in ghee greased idli mould.
  • Place it steamer for 10-15 minutes and switch off the flame, remove the lid of steamer after 3 minutes, allow it rest for 2 minutes.
  • Remove the sago idli into serving plate and serve it.
