Aloo ke Sikka is an excellent variation of making a yummy and scrumptious dish out of boiled potatoes. The boiled potatoes are shallow fried until slightly crisp and then tossed with spices, flavoured with ginger garlic and drizzled with little lime juice that gives an amazing zest to the fried potatoes.

Ingredients used in Aloo Ke Sikka
• Potatoes(boiled and sliced) - 250 grams.
• Oil - 1 tablespoon.
• Green chillies(chopped) - 3 numbers.
• Ginger(chopped) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1/2 bunch.
• Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Butter - 1 tablespoon.
• Chilli powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Chaat masala - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Lime juice - 1 number.
Method:
  • Boil the potatoes slices and keep them aside. (Do not over boil the potatoes).
  • Heat a tawa, add a little oil and shallow fry the boiled potatoes on both sides until slightly browned and crisp. Remove and keep aside.
  • Heat a pan, add chopped green chilies, garlic, ginger, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, butter, and salt all ingredients well.
  • Then add chili powder, salt, chaat masala, lime juice and mix well.
  • Add in the fried potatoes and toss well so that the spices get coated well around the potatoes. Plate them and serve with biryani, pulao or side-dish with rice.

They are valued because they combine the characteristics of starchy foods with those of vegetables. A piping hot boiled potato homemade soup is one of the refreshing and comforting dishes that one will love to eat. Kids love eating fried potatoes especially junk foods like French fries and chips or crispy potato wedges.

Recipe:  Aloo Ke Sikka

  1. Potatoes, boiled & sliced                -       250 gms
  2. Oil                                                        -       1 tbsp
  3. Green chillies, chopped                 -       2-3 nos
  4. Ginger, chopped                              -       ¼ tsp
  5. Garlic, chopped                               -       ¼ tsp
  6. Coriander leaves, chopped           -       ½ bunch
  7. Turmeric powder                             -       pinch
  8. Butter                                                  -       1 tbsp
  9. Chilli powder                                    -       1 tsp
  10. Salt                                                      -       to taste
  11. Chaat masala                                   -       ½ tsp
  12. Lime juice                                         -       1 no

  6. Plate them and serve with biryani, pulao or side-dish with rice.
