Ingredients used in Prawn Caldine Curry
• Green chilly - 4 numbers.
• Ginger garlic slices - 10 grams.
• Salt - to taste.
• Onions - 2 numbers.
• Oil - 3 tablespoons.
• Poppy seeds - 1 tablespoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Coriander seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Pepper corns - 10 numbers.
• Prawns - 500 grams.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Tamarind juice - ½ cup.
• Vinegar - ½ tea spoon.
• Coconut milk - 3 tablespoons.
• Sugar - 1 pinch.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • Heat a pan add peppercorns, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, poppy seeds, dry roast the ingredients put it into the blender and make a paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan add prawns, salt, cook it for a minute and take it into a plate.
  • In the same oil add onions, salt, thin slices of ginger, garlic, green chilly, turmeric powder and add made poppy seeds paste, tamarind juice, vinegar, cook it for some more minutes.
  • Add coconut milk bring it to a boil add a pinch of sugar.
  • Add the cooked prawns cook it for 3 minutes and switch off the flame.

Unfortunately poppy seed is banned and illegal in Singapore, it is such a shame for us! :(

From the original opium poppy but only trace amounts are found on the outer layer of the seeds.
