Description: A classic south Indian dish, basically a tamarind lentil stew cooked with various types of vegetables. Pappu charu is redolent with the delicate flavor of curry leaves and seasoned with Indian spices like cumin, mustard, and fenugreek and ginger garlic paste

Recipe of Pappu Charu

Ginger Garli Paste 1.2 Teaspoons
Curry Leaves 1 Springs
Turermic Powder pinch Pinch
Hing pinch Pinch
Onions 1 Cup
Green Chilli 4 Numbers
Red Chilli Dry 3 Numbers
Cumin Seedsq 1 Teaspoons
Mustard Seed 1 Teaspoons
Tomato 1 Numbers
Oil 1 Tablespoons
Tamarind Juice 2 Cup
Toor Dal Cooked 1 Cup
Coriander Leaves 2 Springs
Salt as needed
Sugar 1 Teaspoons
Ghee 1 Teaspoons

Directions

1. Boil Dal and mash keep it a side.Take pan add oil,mustard seeds,cumin seeds,red chillis dry, onions,hing,turmuric,curry leaves,green chillies,ginger garlic paste,tomatos mix well and now add tamarind juice,chilli powder,salt cook till it comes to boil then
2.  Add some more water as need let it come to boil again.Now add boiled dal and mix well,now add sugar,ghee and cook for 5 min.

@shalu, don't know where you are from but adding jaggery (not sugar) to pappu chaaru is totally authentic. Some people in Andhra add it to sambar also to suit their taste, but that wouldnt be authentic sambar originated from Tamilnadu.

Thank you chef ,the recipe for pappu chaaru is super and simple and best of all..i went back to my childhood days [which i spent in secunderabad]..my neighbors used to make amazing pappu chaaru..and i used to sniff my way into their house....bless you for this recipe and the irani onion samosa ...wah re wah!!!
